When The Brew Is Too Strong

I felt less than
because my mug of black coffee
didn't have enough cream in it.
I didn't think that
straight black
was anyone's preference -
and I was right,
it's not;
but I was wrong -
I am.
I am more than
anything they'd prefer
to water me down to
just so that I'm easier to swallow.
